Keep Louisiana Beautiful Elects Board Members

BATON ROUGE, LA. – Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB), Louisiana’s anti-litter, beautification and community improvement organization focused on education, enforcement, awareness and cleanups, recently elected six new members to serve on the organization’s advisory and director’s boards.

Elected at KLB’s board meeting in May, the new Board of Directors includes: Carla Buchholz, Mandeville City Council; Tricia Farace, Municipal and Community Relations, Waste Management, Gulf Coast Region; Ashley Mullens, Youth Wetland Program Manager, 4-H Youth and Family Development; David Sickey, Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana, Office of the Tribal Council; and Matt Rookard, director of client relations for CivicSource. Jean Kelly, public information officer for the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, was appointed to the Advisory Board.

“We appreciate the time and consideration that our board devotes to Keep Louisiana Beautiful’s mission, and we value the commitment and counsel of all our members. Together, we are effecting real change in our state and local communities,” said Executive Director Susan Russell. “The board’s unending support, guidance and leadership are essential components of our continued success and ability to make a lasting impact on our state.”

Led by Board Chair Andy Johnson, Attorney at Law, the Board of Director’s Executive Committee includes: Past Chair Jackie Maginnis, Vice Chair Steven Gruesbeck, Psychology Faculty Member, Northwestern University; Secretary Monica Friedman, Treasurer Dr. Susan Strain, Claiborne Hill Veterinary Hospital; and KLB Executive Director Susan Russell. Other board members include: Courtney Hornsby, Chamber of Commerce West Monroe-West Ouachita; Deborah Juneau, Partner, Kean Miller LLP; Darienne Mobley, Co-Exec. Director, La. Travel Promotion Assoc.; and David Yarbrough, Dean of Community Service, University of Lafayette. Advisory Board members includes; Darryl Campbell, Exec. Management Officer, La. Dept. of Public Safety & Corrections; Judd Jeansonne, Exec. Director, Volunteer Louisiana; Mary Lou Robertson, La. Garden Club Federation; Roy Dupuy, Chief Landscape Architect DOTD; and Venise Ortego, Environmental Education State Coordinator, LWLF.

Consisting of 15 members, the Board of Directors serves as the policy making body and governing authority by adopting rules and regulations and delegating authority as necessary to further the organization’s purpose. KLB’s Advisory Board is comprised of representatives from government agencies and interested organizations. The representatives are non-voting members of the board, and members may serve on committees and work in tandem with KLB on various mission appropriate projects.

Affiliated with the national organization Keep America Beautiful, KLB’s mission is to promote personal, corporate and community responsibility for a clean and beautiful Louisiana.
