Keep Louisiana Beautiful Foundation Director

Position Summary 
The Foundation Director position was created to oversee the newly established Keep Louisiana Beautiful Foundation (KLBF). The Foundation serves as the development arm of Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB), a state program supporting local community improvement and promoting best practices for litter prevention, waste reduction, recycling, beautification, and sustainability. The Foundation Director reports to the KLBF Board of Directors, secures funds, and cultivates relationships in support of the goals and mission of KLB. The Foundation Director is a highly collaborative, proactive, and resourceful professional who provides expertise, leadership, and oversight of KLBF’s donor acquisition and retention, fundraising efforts, and corporate sponsorships.
Objectives of this role
  • Create an annual fundraising plan with set goals approved by the KLBF Board of Directors.
  • Work closely with KLBF Board and the KLB state program Executive Director and staff to develop and implement fundraising and program strategies to support the missions and goals of KLBF and KLB state program.
  • Oversee daily operations of KLBF.
  • Work collaboratively with elected officials, Office of the Lt. Governor, government leaders, civic leaders, business leaders, community leaders, and corporate sponsors to raise funds to support KLBF and KLB state program activities.
  • Implement a work plan for fundraising and manage monthly cash flow.
Responsibilities
  • Create fundraising plans for achieving goals and objectives set in collaboration with the KLBF board of directors, Office of Lt. Governor, and the KLB state program Executive Director.
  • Develop and implement fundraising programs.
  • Meet annual fundraising goals by securing financial support from foundations, corporations, individuals, and government funding sources.
  • Work with KLBF board and KLB state program Executive Director and staff on fundraising benefits, the KLB annual conference, awards program, and other community events and programs initiated by the KLB state program.
  • Create and manage KLBF communications, including website and e-communications with current and potential donors.
  • Serve as the face of KLBF and participate in external events to increase visibility, credibility, and market brand.
  • In coordination with KLB state program staff, develop strategic fundraising partnerships to increase community awareness and funding opportunities.
  • Research and identify sources of funding to support KLB state program activities and programs.
  • Manage an active portfolio of current and prospective donors.
  • Establish guidelines for donor stewardship and recognition.
  • Manage all logistics associated with memberships, solicitations, corporate giving, sponsorship, grants, and custom partnerships.
  • Establish internal processes for collecting, awarding, and distributing funds.
  • Maintain a donor database, stewardship activities, and reporting.
  • Work with KLBF Board to set board meeting schedules and agendas; communicate and coordinate board activities and manage board committees.
  • Build and lead an effective team, as the organization grows, dedicated to fulfilling KLBF’s mission through highly successful programs, community engagement, and fundraising.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Other duties may be assigned commensurate with the position.
Required skills and qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Five or more years of non-profit fundraising experience with a proven track record of successful fundraising
  • Grant writing experience
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with an innovative approach to program planning and execution
  • Dynamic and charismatic team player who enjoys being the public face of an organization
  • Able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively
  • Detail-oriented and well-organized
  • Excellent written, verbal, and public communication skills with persuasive ability, including strong storytelling capacity and the ability to effectively convey KLB’s mission
  • Solid fiscal management skills with experience in budget analysis, forecasting, and planning
  • Highly motivated and committed to the mission of KLB
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
Preferred skills and qualifications
  • Master’s degree in nonprofit management or a related field
  • Knowledge of leadership and management principles for nonprofit organizations.
  • Experience in managing budgets
  • Experience in event planning and/or marketing
  • Proven success working with a board of directors and volunteer committees
  • Experience with prospect and donor management fundraising software applications
  • Proficient in Little Green Light, Cognito, and Quick Books
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements 
This position will be based out of the offices of the KLB state program in Mandeville, Louisiana.   A hybrid remote position will be considered but the individual must be based within a reasonable driving distance of Mandeville, Louisiana.  The position requires some night/weekend work and frequent travel within the State of Louisiana.
As for physical requirements, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, sit, twist, use hands to finger, grasp, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, talk and hear. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and office equipment. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, crouch, squat, and kneel.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or carry up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds. The employee must have a valid Louisiana driver’s license and pass any required background checks.
