2021 State Conference

The annual State Conference and Everyday Hero Awards Banquet will take place at the Baton Rouge Hilton Capitol Center on October 13 and 14. All those interested in working towards a greener, cleaner, more beautiful Louisiana are invited to attend. Industry experts, civic officials, and anti-litter advocates from across the state will gather to present and share real-world applications for environmental stewardship in local communities.

The Trash Receptacle Affiliate Grant Report is due for affiliates that received a 2021 Trash Receptacle Affiliate Grant. This includes a litter assessment, a copy of your press release, a copy of your legislative letter, and photos of installed receptacles with signage.

Rockey's Toolbox Teacher Workshop in Baton Rouge

KLB invites teachers K-5th to attend a free environmental education workshop to introduce a program focused on helping students become good environmental stewards. The program contains 10 environmental lesson plans, hands-on, interactive activities, fun worksheets, grade-level student standards, and supplemental resources. Topics include defining litter, the timeline of trash, litter decomposition, watershed, clean water, effects on wildlife, plastics pollution, reducing, reusing, recycling, and civic responsibility.

Virtual Affiliate Regional Meeting

Affiliate directors and board members are invited to attend the regional virtual meeting from 9am to 12pm. The topic of the virtual meeting will be Telling Your Story through Data & Impact, Cost-Benefit Analysis, and Affiliate Sharing. Registration is required.

Attendance at a regional meeting is also one of the requirements to receive KLB’s Circle of Excellence Award, which provides $500 for your affiliate and is a part of the KLB support plan offered to affiliates.

Leave No Trace: The Rotten Truth About Trash

Join KLB in hosting the first of four webinars in our Lasting Impact Virtual Summit learning series from 10 am to 11:30 am to educate and share best practices, programs, and current trends with individuals, organizations, and local governmental entities. This series aims to equip citizens with ongoing education to prevent litter, reduce waste, and beautify local communities. Thanks to the generosity of our partner, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana, the webinar series is free and open to all who are interested. Registration is required.

The Subaru/Leave No Trace Teams will proved proven, research-based skills and education for getting outside in an environmentally sustainable way. The session will emphasize the proper disposal of waste and the connection of land-based litter with water pollution and its impact on the watershed and Louisiana’s many water bodies.
