Glass Act Recycling to Host Press Conference and Open House on America Recycles Day, Nov. 15

Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) partner, Glass Act Recycling in Alexandria, is a non-profit that not only recycles and repurposes glass but also educates the public about the importance of recycling. In conjunction with America Recycles Day, on Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Glass Act is hosting a press conference and open house. Attend to learn about their new partnerships, projects, and participate in their Vision Tour. Guests will witness how glass bottles and jars can be transformed into sand and works of art.

In 2022, Glass Act applied for and was awarded a KLB Healthy Communities Grant of $7,095 to produce an 8-minute video for the organization’s new Looking Glass learning center. Glass Act looks forward to welcoming youth field trips, non-profit and for-profit organizations, and general visitors to experience the recycling facility and newly opened learning center.

“We are proud to support Glass Act Recycling and their educational goals,” says Susan Russell, KLB Executive Director. “They are making a difference by teaching people the many benefits of recycling, and in the process, empowering citizens to become environmental stewards.”

Since opening in March of this year, Glass Act has collected, weighed, and sorted 86,983 pounds of glass (43.5 tons). They offer the only full-circle, all-volunteer glass recycling center in central Louisiana.
