Get Down & Clean Up Spotlight: Calcasieu Parish Library

The groovy spirit of KLB’s Get Down & Clean Up program is embraced at Calcasieu Parish Libraries! The Central Branch Library brought in one of their community’s favorite musical performers, Elizabeth Vidos (AKA Lady Chops), to star in a social media video to raise awareness for the program, through which library card holders can check out supplies like grabbers and safety vests to clean up litter in their communities. Lady Chops, along with Programming Librarian Sandy Buteau, share the message that taking action against litter can be both fun and rewarding. The catchy beat in their video goes a long way to drum up excitement and motivate their viewers to use those litter cleanup tools. Check out their reel!

“The Calcasieu Parish Public Library is proud to have partnered with Keep Louisiana Beautiful by loaning litter pick-up tools at our libraries,” says Buteau.  “Organizations have already come together to check out these tools to help keep Calcasieu Parish litter-free, and we encourage other service groups and neighborhoods to follow!  Louisiana is known as the “Sportsman’s Paradise” and our Calcasieu Libraries are thrilled to help keep our paradise beautiful.”

Keep up the great work, Calcasieu, and keep boogying your way to a cleaner Louisiana! Ready to Get Down & Clean Up? There’s plenty of ways to get involved! Start by viewing the full list of participating libraries. And new libraries can sign up for their own cleanup supply kits as well!
