Keep America Beautiful Cigarette Butt Litter Study Results

KAB discusses findings from two national cigarette butt litter studies. One study conducted in Memphis, TN, Columbus, OH, and Shreveport, LA explores the effectiveness of media campaigns and increasing cigarette receptacles on reducing cigarette litter. The second study examines the impact of smoking bans on cigarette litter, analyzes smoking ban ordinances, and highlights case studies.

Randy Hartmann, Senior Director of Affiliate Operations, Keep America Beautiful
Randy leads a dedicated team of professionals who provide programs, technical assistance and resources to the nonprofit’s 650 local affiliates to help motivate individuals to build and foster sustainable communities. Prior to joining Keep America Beautiful, Randy served as the COO for the Association County Commissioners of Georgia and, prior to that, he directed the Office of Environmental Management for the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, which included the Keep Georgia Beautiful program. Randy has decades of government experience in solid waste management planning, recycling, composting, and disposal operations in Ohio and Iowa.
Abby Goldsmith, Principal partner, A. Goldsmith Resources, LLC
Abby Goldsmith is the owner of A. Goldsmith Resources, LLC, a woman-owned consultancy dedicated to helping clients navigate sustainable solid waste and materials management. Abby has worked with state and local governments for thirty years to maximize the recovery of resources from what otherwise would be waste and to manage what remains in an environmentally and financially sustainable way. She serves on the Advisory Board of the Solid Waste Association of North America and is on the Executive Board of the Georgia Chapter. Abby served as the first President of the Georgia Recycling Coalition.
