The City of Morgan City, in partnership with Keep St. Mary Beautiful, is hosting a litter cleanup the week before the 86th Shrimp & Petroleum Festival.
About the Shrimp & Petroleum Festival
The festival—the oldest chartered harvest festival—recognizes the working men and women of both the seafood and petroleum industries which are the economic lifeblood of the area. The festival also emphasizes the unique way in which these two seemingly different industries work hand in hand culturally and environmentally. The blessing of the industries is what the festival is all about. The festival includes bands, food booths, fireworks, arts and crafts, a blessing of the fleet, Mass in the park, street and water parades, and kid friendly events. Most importantly, the crowning of a festival king & queen. Fun for the entire family. The festival will be held in downtown Morgan City Sept. 1-5.
