Partner Spotlight: All 16 Branches of Jefferson Parish Library Participate in Get Down & Clean Up

Litter cleanup kits can now be checked out from all 16 branches of the Jefferson Parish Library through Keep Louisiana Beautiful’s Get Down & Clean Up program! The parish library system originally signed up to offer the program at five of its branches, and in the past month, the program expanded to the remaining 11 locations. A Jefferson Parish council member, eager to see the program in every community, helped drive this expansion, making it easier than ever for locals to access litter kits and keep Louisiana beautiful.
Through Get Down & Clean Up, families across Jefferson Parish are getting involved in hands-on community care. The program has been well-received among local environmental stewards, with the kits’ circulation numbers topping 60 check-outs. One family borrowed a kit from the West Bank Regional Branch after their daughter expressed excitement about cleaning up her community. They plan to continue checking out kits and making an impact.
Another family used their kit for a beach cleanup on Grand Isle, saying, “We loved teaching our grandkids how to Love the Boot.” These activities offer meaningful ways for families to enjoy time together while learning about how to care for the community and environment.
In partnership with the Louisiana State Library and Louisiana Public Library System, Keep Louisiana Beautiful provides litter cleanup kits to library branches statewide. Each kit contains a safety vest, grabbers, a trash bag, and cleanup instructions, and is available for checkout with a library card.
