Keep Louisiana Beautiful Announces 2024 Everyday Heroes

MANDEVILLE, La. – Annually, in conjunction with the Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) State Conference, KLB hosts the Everyday Hero Awards luncheon, recognizing individuals, groups, non-profits, and businesses going the extra mile to clean up and beautify Louisiana communities. The luncheon on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 12 – 2 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Executive Center, will feature LSU Baseball Head Coach Jay Johnson as the keynote speaker and Jefferson Parish Councilwoman and KLB Foundation (KLBF) Board Member Jennifer Van Vrancken as the master of ceremonies.

 

The 2024 Everyday Heroes include:
– The Brighton School Senior Beta Club (Rocksey’s Young Leadership Award)
– Corporal Kenny Robertson (Litter Enforcement Award)
– Restore Grand Isle (Community Improvement Award)
– Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council (Clean Biz Leadership Award)
– LyondellBasell (Clean Biz Leadership Award)
– Jeff Davis Chamber of Commerce (Chamber Clean Biz Leadership Award)
– Keep Livingston Beautiful (Outstanding Community Affiliate Award)
– Keep UNO Beautiful (Outstanding University Affiliate Award)
– Katie Buc, Loyola University (Collegiate Environmental Steward Award)
– Dr. Gretchen L. Vanicor & University of Louisiana at Lafayette Office of Sustainability (Leaders Against Litter Award)
– Frances Guillory (Let Louisiana Shine Volunteer Award)
– Devin Schexnayder (Let Louisiana Shine Volunteer Award)
– Venise Ortego (Alice Foster Award)

 

“These Everyday Heroes are doing amazing work in their communities, and they are helping move the needle toward a cleaner, greener Louisiana,” says Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser. “Let these award recipients be an example to all. We all need to work together to clean up our Sportsman’s Paradise.”

 

“Through their work, the 2024 Everyday Hero Award recipients demonstrate model citizenship,” says Susan Russell, KLB Executive Director. “They understand the importance and value of taking pride in their communities. They want to see and experience a litter-free and beautiful Louisiana.”

 

Presenting these awards are KLBF Board Members Samantha Bonnette, Daryl Campbell, Rep. John Illg Jr., Phyllis Cancienne, and Ivy Mathieu. Also presenting awards are Cabell Mouton, KLB Community Outreach and Affiliate Services Director; Susan Russell, KLB Executive Director; and Troy West, son of former First Lady of Louisiana Alice Foster.
