Keep Bossier Beautiful Hosts First Lake Bistineau Cleanup
On Saturday, June 7, volunteers gathered for the first-ever Lake Bistineau Cleanup hosted by Keep Bossier Beautiful (KBB) and The Bayou Chapter of the Ozark Society (BCOS).
The cleanup brought together 35 volunteers from KBB, BCOS, Sisters on the Fly, and Sister Corps. Using kayaks and boats, the volunteers successfully removed tires, buckets, fast food containers, and a host of debris from the lake. A 24-foot by 8-foot trash-hauling boat carried the litter to shore.
This event was supported by several community partners. The removal of the debris was made possible with two dumpsters sponsored by District 1 Police Jury representative Kim Gaspard. The Bossier Parish Police Jury also played a key role, hosting the cleanup at the Parish Road campground boat launch.
To thank volunteers for their hard work, Advanced Air Conditioning & Heating generously provided a post-cleanup lunch.
Congratulations to all involved in this successful first-time event! We love to see people working together to keep our waterways clean and beautiful.
