13,891 Cans and Bottles Recycled During Love the Boot Week

From April 20-28, volunteers from every parish participated in Keep Louisiana Beautiful’s, Love the Boot Week. A record 347 tons of litter were removed, and thanks to support from Coca-Cola, 13,891 aluminum cans and plastic bottles were diverted from the landfill and recycled.

Volunteers of ages pitched in!

In total, 7,044 aluminum cans (292.92 lbs) and 6,847 plastic bottles (330.38 lbs) were collected from 60 groups through 58 pick-ups and drop-offs in West Monroe. This is a significant expansion from the 2023 recycling effort, which was successful in collecting 3,506 aluminum cans and plastic bottles at 13 Love the Boot Week events. That’s a 296% increase in recycling!

Osprey Initiative facilitated the pick-up and drop-offs, sorted the material collected, and then transported the recyclables to the Republic Services recycling MRF in Baton Rouge and Amite Metal Recycling in Amite City. Thank you to Coca-Cola for sponsoring Love the Boot Week recycling!
