Keep Louisiana Beautiful Welcomes Three New Parishes to the Community Affiliate Network
BATON ROUGE, La. – Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) welcomes three new Community Affiliates to its network of community improvement organizations: Lafourche Parish, St. Bernard Parish, and St. Charles Parish. KLB’s statewide network of 40 Community Affiliates is comprised of passionate local leaders working diligently to stop litter, improve recycling and waste reduction, and beautify public spaces.
“It’s always great to welcome new community affiliates to the list of people and organizations that want to see a cleaner Louisiana. It’s going to take all Louisianans working together to solve this problem. We need to change the culture and habits in this state so we can let our light shine for all to see the beauty we have to offer,” said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser.
The formation of Keep Lafourche Beautiful has been led by John Warren, Affiliate Coordinator and Special Projects Coordinator for Lafourche Parish Government.
“We are excited to join the Affiliate network and look forward to bringing Keep Louisiana Beautiful’s community-centric programs to Lafourche Parish,” said John Warren. “Our goal is to make the parish a cleaner, greener place to call home.”
Keep St. Bernard Parish Beautiful’s formation has been led by the Affiliate Executive Director, Dennis Bradley. Bradley also serves as the MS4 Inspector with St. Bernard Parish Department of Public Works.
“Keep St. Bernard Beautiful is proud to be part of Keep Louisiana Beautiful and we look forward to helping make St. Bernard and Louisiana a better place to live,” said Dennis Bradley.
With support from Parish President Matthew Jewell, Keep St. Charles Parish Beautiful’s affiliation was guided by Marny Stein, Affiliate Coordinator and Coastal Zone Manager, and Francesca Holt Blanchard, Public Information Officer.
“The Keep St. Charles Parish Beautiful Committee is excited to formalize our affiliation with Keep Louisiana Beautiful, as the process required us to develop a strong foundation to build our efforts,” said Marny Stein. “Our affiliation has already provided us with robust resources, and we look forward to many more years of this partnership that will help us reach our goals of reducing litter and beautifying public spaces in St. Charles Parish.”
To achieve Affiliation, the three organizations were required to form a steering committee, select a coordinator/point of contact, determine the organizational structure and governing body, attend a KLB training session, conduct a community assessment and litter survey, create a one-year plan, establish a budget, and announce their Affiliate status.
“The Affiliate network is the backbone of Keep Louisiana Beautiful, constantly working to make our state a cleaner, greener place to live,” says Cabell Mouton, KLB Community Engagement and Affiliate Services Director. “We are happy to welcome the three new Affiliates to our family and can’t wait to see the impact they have on their communities.”
“It’s important to grow Keep Louisiana Beautiful’s network to strengthen our fight against litter and ultimately contribute to an improved quality of life for Louisiana’s citizens,” says Susan Russell, KLB Executive Director. “Our strong Affiliate network offers proof of what’s possible when we all work together toward a common goal.”
In 2023-2024, the Community Affiliate network worked diligently to clean up and beautify Louisiana. Here are some their accomplishments:
– Removed 67,560 cigarette butts
– Collected 1.3 million pounds of recycling
– Removed 12,983 pounds of litter from waterways
