Keep Louisiana Beautiful encourages each Louisiana resident to be an Everyday Hero. We honor groups and individuals whose exemplary efforts help to keep our state beautiful. Winners, in eight categories, will be awarded the distinction of “Everyday Hero” and will be recognized at KLB’s State Conference Awards Banquet to take place in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on September 28, 2016.
ELIGIBILITY: Non-profits, KLB affiliates, businesses, professional groups, governmental agencies, civic and community organizations, schools, churches and individuals are eligible to be nominated. Anyone may submit a nomination.
Alice Foster Award: Louisiana’s former First Lady, Alice Foster played a crucial role in beautification and preservation efforts across the state, in helping to launch Keep Louisiana Beautiful. The Alice Foster Award recognizes an individual volunteer for their exceptional legacy and leadership in litter prevention, waste reduction, recycling and beautification.
2016 Alice Foster Award Recipient: Margaret Tingle, Slidell
Golden Can Award: This award recognizes a public servant who displays a deep commitment to KLB’s mission in their daily work by going above and beyond the call of duty. Eligible parties include state and municipal employees, educators, and elected officials.
2016 Golden Can Award Recipient: Carla Buchholz, Mandeville
Most Innovative Program: This award recognizes a successful beautification, litter prevention or waste reduction program led by a school, civic group, non-profit or KLB affiliate.
2016 Most Innovative Program Award Recipient: Conrad Industries, Morgan City
Youth Award: This award recognizes a student or youth-led group (kindergarten through college) that displays creative thinking, and effective leadership to engaged their peers and makes a significant impact in their community.
2016 Youth Award Recipient: Green School Club of the Greenville Park Leadership Academy, Hammond
Outstanding Affiliate: This award recognizes a KAB affiliate that shows fortitude, leadership, creative and diverse programming, as well as community engagement.
2016 Outstanding Affiliate Award Recipient: Shreveport Green
Outstanding Affiliate Director: This award recognizes a KAB affiliate director who demonstrates exceptional dedication to KLB’s mission. This individual displays leadership in building a strong and sustainable organization.
Corporate Leadership Award: This award recognizes a business that demonstrates a consistent dedication to KLB’s mission, environmental stewardship and community enrichment.
2016 Corporate Leadership Award Recipient: Holyfield Construction, Monroe
NEW! Law Enforcement Recognition Award: This award recognizes law enforcement personnel including Justices of the Peace, Constables, judges, and code enforcement officers who are successfully enforcing state, parish or city litter and illegal dumping laws.

Nomination submissions should include a narrative that details how the nominee is qualified for the award. Narratives may not exceed 500 words. Submit any documentation that supports the nomination, including printed materials, photos, press clippings, etc.
