Louisiana COPRI is hosting a volunteer waterways cleanup at The Water Institute in Baton Rouge in support of Keep Louisiana Beautiful’s Love Our Waterways initiative. This event brings together engineers, industry professionals, and community volunteers to remove litter and debris from surrounding waters and wetlands. By participating, we aim to improve local water quality, protect critical ecosystems, and support the long-term health of Louisiana’s coastal and river systems. We will meet at The Water Institute before proceeding to clean up areas along the Mississippi River batture. Litter Clean up along and in a section of Bayou Barataria (Outfall canal) from the Donner Canal to the Planters Canal.

World Cleanup Day (WCD) is a global day of community and sustainable action that refreshes the natural beauty of local areas. Loyola and Tulane community members work together to combat the large amounts of waste in local neighborhoods through a widespread litter cleanup. The goal of WCD is to reduce waste in the community through collective action, education, and environmental awareness. By dedicating a day to cleaning litter out of the local neighborhood, WCD encourages us to be mindful about where our waste ends up and its impact on the environment. This year’s event will be a part of the KLB Love Our Waterways initiative. Through working together, we can create meaningful change. Anticipated participants: 250-300

Please meet at the top of the boat ramp by 8am to receive cleanup materials and instruction. . Please wear closed-toed shoes and bring a filled, refillable water bottle. If you bring a boat or kayak, please have life vests and safety equipment. There will also be a shoreline cleanup. We will be cleaning up in the Lake as well shoreline. Please wear closed-toed shoes and bring a filled, refillable water bottle. Please meet at the Cheniere Lake Area 7 boat dock by 8am. You will be loaned cleanup supplies and given instructions. If you have a boat or kayak, please make sure that you have life vests. We will cleanup along the shorelines as well. Thank you!

If you have a boat or kayak, please bring life vests. We will be cleaning along the shoreline so watercraft is not a necessity. We will be cleaning a stretch of the 40 Arpent Canal and shoreline near the Observatory

Join us in Breaux Bridge to clean up a stretch of the bayou and Parc des Ponts on land in preparation for our Shake Your Trail Feather Paddle Parade and Festival. We will have trash pickers, bags, buckets, extra water and snacks. Bring your own water bottle. There is a bathroom on site. If you have a kayak or boat, please bring it. If you don't have a boat, we will identify sites on land for trash pickup. www.techeproject.org

Volunteers will be picking up litter along the shoreline and in the Abita River. Depending on river conditions, a few experienced kayakers would be a welcome addition. KAB will have heavy duty tongs and grabbers available.

Join Girl Scouts for a fun morning of service! We will be cleaning the Akers boat launches on both sides of Hwy 51 that directly impact our waterways. 9am - 11am

Clean up trash beside the bayou
