Throughout the month of September, our team will be conducting cleanup efforts throughout the parish , focusing on shorelines, drainage canals, drainage ditches, catch basins , rivers and waterways. Crews will be removing litter , debris, and trees that or obstructing drainage flow to help reduce flooding risk, improve water quality, and keep our community clean and beautiful. These efforts are important part of maintaining our drainage system and protecting our natural resources. We appreciate the support and cooperation of our team as we work together to keep Ascension Parish clean, safe, and resilient.

We have officially launched our September 12, 2026, Amite River Shoreline Cleanup! Join us as we work together to help keep our waterways clean and beautiful. Volunteers will meet at Fred’s on the River at 8:30 AM before heading out for the cleanup. Become a part of the DRAIN DEFENDERS and help us clean out drains throughout Shreveport! Not only will this help reduce litter in our waterways, but together we will keep our streets from flooding one drain at a time!!

Participants will have the opportunity to clean up the shoreline of North Beach in Lake Charles which is the only white-sand inland beach from Texas to Florida. Keep Jaguar Nation Beautiful is a community cleanup initiative bringing together Southern University alumni, students, faculty, staff, and Scotlandville residents to beautify the neighborhoods surrounding Southern University. Volunteers will spend the morning removing litter, promoting environmental stewardship, and demonstrating Jaguar pride through service. Supplies will be provided, and community service hours are available. Together, we are building a cleaner, safer, and stronger Scotlandville—one block at a time.

Louisiana COPRI is hosting a volunteer waterways cleanup at The Water Institute in Baton Rouge in support of Keep Louisiana Beautiful’s Love Our Waterways initiative. This event brings together engineers, industry professionals, and community volunteers to remove litter and debris from surrounding waters and wetlands. For “Love The Boot” we had over 75 volunteers and were expecting more. We’ll concentrate our clean-up effort along the Park area with greater access to Bayou Teche.

We will be picking up litter along the shoreline in Jimmie Davis State Park. Check in at the Entrance Station upon arrival.

This will be a shoreline cleanup with canoes and kayaks. Those wishing to work the shoreline on foot with grabbers may do so, others with canoes and kayaks will depart from the designated point for a three hours shoreline cleanup. One half the group will work upstream and the other half will work down stream.

Mississippi River Bank Cleanup – Harahan, LA Join us on September 11, 2026, at 10:00 AM for a community cleanup along the banks of the Mississippi River at 53 Berkley Ave, Harahan, Louisiana. This volunteer event focuses on removing litter and debris to help protect our waterways, improve the local environment, and preserve the natural beauty of the riverbank. The Surfrider Foundation launched its Beach Guardian program in Louisiana! We have removed over 800 pounds of debris from Grand Isle beach, and we need your help to remove even more! The Keep UL Lafayette Beautiful Coulee Cleanup brings together students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members to help preserve the natural beauty of our campus and protect the waterways that connect our community. During the cleanup, volunteers work in teams to remove litter from designated areas along campus coulees and surrounding green spaces. Cleanup supplies including gloves, litter grabbers, safety vests, and trash bags are provided. Participants are encouraged to wear closed-toe shoes, dress appropriately for the weather, and bring a reusable water bottle.

In celebration of Love Our Waterways, Keep Nicholls Beautiful will be cleaning up Bayou Lafourche and the bayouside on the campus of Nicholls State University.

All volunteers are welcome to participate in the waterway's cleanup for Blind River on 9-12-2026 from 8am-12pm beginning at Canel Bank in Maurepas. The cleanup will be by boat; all volunteers are welcome. You will need a boat to participate if you do not have a boat, we will have duties for all that attend.

Scouts and volunteers will clean both Blood River and Tickfaw River by boats.

This clean-up will require access to a kayak or canoe. We have limited access to watercraft at the park, so plan to bring your own if possible.

Two catch basins and drainage path on the east side and north side of the community garden (corner lot) will be cleaned and cleared of all debris blockage in its path. This will allow the natural flow of rain water to flow properly to prevent street flooding. This is very important as this event coincide with hurricane season.

World Cleanup Day (WCD) is a global day of community and sustainable action that refreshes the natural beauty of local areas. Loyola and Tulane community members work together to combat the large amounts of waste in local neighborhoods through a widespread litter cleanup. The goal of WCD is to reduce waste in the community through collective action, education, and environmental awareness. By dedicating a day to cleaning litter out of the local neighborhood, WCD encourages us to be mindful about where our waste ends up and its impact on the environment. This year’s event will be a part of the KLB Love Our Waterways initiative. Through working together, we can create meaningful change. Anticipated participants: 250-300

Keep Algiers Beautiful volunteers and partners will clean up along the shoreline of the Mississippi River at the river batture in Old Algiers near the Algiers ferry landing.

We’ll start by clearing the drains around Galvez Garden and then continue to clear out drains through the neighborhood. You can also drop off your frozen food scraps and aluminum cans when you come for Compost and Cans Collection, open from 10:00-2:00.

This date (Sept 21) marks the end of a month long clean up on or near LSU New Orleans campus. On the 21st the trash pick up will cover the shoreline of Lake Pontchartrain nearest the LSU New Orleans campus (east and west campus). Storm drains and canals leading into Lake Pontchartrain around campus are to be cleaned up from the shoreline. People aboard, boats and kayaks are welcome to collect debris as well.

Join us we walk the perimeter of Bayou St. John removing litter and invasive species along the bulkhead and shoreline of Louisiana's most historic urban bayou. In coordination with the National Public Lands Day event organized by the US Army Corps of Engineers and the St. Charles Parish Coastal Zone Advisory Committee, Keep St. Charles Parish Beautiful will focus efforts on The Bonnet Carre Spillway (101 Lower Guide Levee Road) and Wetland Watcher Park (1650 Lower Guide Levee Road).

Join us in Breaux Bridge to clean up a stretch of the bayou and Parc des Ponts on land in preparation for our Shake Your Trail Feather Paddle Parade and Festival. We will have trash pickers, bags, buckets, extra water and snacks. Bring your own water bottle. There is a bathroom on site. If you have a kayak or boat, please bring it. The North Shore Beach HOA will promote the event and coordinate volunteers. I am on the board doing marketing/PR. We have a dumpster, restrooms, community center nearby and can provide refreshments. We have a small popular beach and a longer shoe line along Carr Drive. We may have boats to pull up debris and old crab traps.

Volunteers will be picking up litter along the shoreline and in the Abita River. Depending on river conditions, a few experienced kayakers would be a welcome addition. KAB will have heavy duty tongs and grabbers available.

Volunteers will be assisted by with the help of Southeatern Wildlife Refuge who will supply canoes to help pick up Litter in the Bayou. We will also be picking up Litter on the Road side by the rock section of Lake Road, which leads to Lake Pontchartrain and Bayou Lacombe.

When it comes to cleaning our waterways, stormwater management is one of the most important means. "Green Infrastructure" such as detention and retention ponds are critical features that prevent street flooding and contain litter and absorb pollutants that otherwise would flow into our natural waterways. These ponds require a lot of maintenance or else stormwater overflow will occur and impact receiving streams, bayous and rivers. Therefore, volunteers are needed to help St. Tammany pick up litter and remove invasive plants from the Tenant Pond in order to keep the French Branch waterbody from becoming polluted. French Branch flows into the Pearl River so the impact of the cleanup will spread wide and far.

TBD: We'll start and end at the Riverwood Boat Launch - Event will be up to 90 minutes. Those without a boat can help clean the neighborhood entrance ditches and areas near neighborhood catch basins

The Lake D’Arbonne Cleanup Classic is an annual community conservation event that brings together volunteers, families, businesses, civic organizations, and outdoor enthusiasts to help remove litter from Lake D’Arbonne and its shoreline. Teams compete in friendly divisions while supporting Louisiana’s Love Our Waterways initiative, demonstrating that together we can preserve one of our state’s greatest natural resources for future generations.

Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office deputies will volunteer to clean up. Additionally, our liter abatement crews will be out on this day doing extra pickup of our ditches and other drainage areas.
