Thank you for making Love the Boot Week bigger and better than ever!
This was a special year, with volunteers across Louisiana cleaning up and caring for their communities in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. Love the Boot Week truly has become a movement, growing to 1,624 litter cleanup and beautification events in all 64 parishes – a 480% increase from year one!
Over the course of nine days, 28,079 individuals dedicated a total of 77,648 hours to the removal of a record 566 tons or 1.13 million pounds of litter. If spread evenly across a standard American football field, the litter removed would form a dense layer of trash approximately 5 feet deep!
Recycling is a big part of Love the Boot Week, and this year, 9,870 plastic bottles and aluminum cans were diverted from the landfill and recycled. Volunteers also focused on community beautification, planting 1,546 trees and 4,231 plants, and refurbishing 396 gardens.
Keep Louisiana Beautiful will soon publish the Love the Boot Week impact report with additional statistics and photos! Stay tuned!
