Keep Louisiana Beautiful Affiliates Celebrate Louisiana Arbor Day

Louisiana Arbor Day is January 20! Get outside and plant a tree! The Community Affiliate network of Keep Louisiana Beautiful will celebrate Louisiana Arbor Day with the following events:

 

Jan. 14

9 a.m. to 11 a.m. – Keep Slidell Beautiful will host a tree giveaway in Fritchie Park. Open to the public. Trees are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. For more information, contact mfrischhertz@cityofslidell.org.

 

Jan. 19

4 p.m. – Keep Eunice Beautiful and Bulb & Blossom Garden Club of Eunice to plant a native tree at Eunice Fairground Park. Open to the public. For information, contact baltakisd@bellsouth.net.

 

Jan. 20

9 a.m. – Keep St. James Beautiful and St. James High School to plant trees at St. James High School. Open to the public. For information, contact kennethguidry2215@gmail.com.

 

Jan. 21

9:30 a.m. to noon – Keep Bossier Beautiful and the Bossier Parish Police Jury will host a tree planting along Arthur Ray Teague Parkway. Open to the public. Register to volunteer at www.keepbossierbeautiful.org. For information, contact lbryan@keepbossierbeautiful.org.

 

Jan. 28

9 a.m. to noon – Keep Covington Beautiful will host a tree seedling giveaway at the Covington Farmers Market. Open to the public. Seedlings are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. For information, contact info@keepcovingtonbeautiful.org.

 

The state of Louisiana designates the third Friday in January as Arbor Day to coincide with Louisiana’s tree-planting season.

 

Love the Boot Week, April 17-23, will provide the people of Louisiana with another opportunity to organize tree-planting events. Registration for this statewide cleanup and beautification effort will open Jan. 23 at www.lovetheboot.org.
