Keep Louisiana Beautiful Spends the Day at the Legislature

On April 21st, the eve of Earth Day, Keep Louisiana Beautiful will arrive at the Louisiana state capitol building in Baton Rouge to meet state legislators. Keep Louisiana Beautiful staff, board members, and representatives from KLB affiliates throughout the state will be stationed in the capitol rotunda to greet Louisiana’s new and incumbent state legislators.

This day has been reserved as a time to express gratitude for our legislators’ ongoing support of Keep Louisiana Beautiful and provide awareness about what Keep Louisiana Beautiful is doing to protect and beautify our state through its grants, trainings, and volunteer events. It is particularly appropriate to do so on the day before all who share our planet pause to consider how we can best take care of it.

Dr. Susan Strain, who serves on the Board of Directors for Keep Louisiana Beautiful, is eager to strengthen the ties between our state representatives and Keep Louisiana Beautiful affiliates. “Opening up the lines of communication between those who live in communities directly impacted by our environmental policies and those who help create them is crucial,” she said. “By working together and strengthening our communication, we can help shed light on environmental issues that need to be in the forefront of all our minds.”

Affiliate chapter representatives will be there as the faces of their local communities, eager to share information about the specific environmental issues their communities are facing, and to seek partnership with legislators about how together, they can successfully address them.

Leaders and representatives will be asked to strengthen their commitment to working towards at cleaner, safer, more beautiful Louisiana by joining Keep Louisiana Beautiful at local Great American Cleanup events and at the annual state conference, scheduled for next fall.

Keep Louisiana Beautiful representatives will be at the state capitol building from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 21st.
