BATON ROUGE, La. – Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser and Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) are proud to welcome three new organizations to the KLB Community Affiliate Network: Clean Pelican in Baton Rouge, Keep Plaquemines Parish Beautiful, and Keep Richland Beautiful. These additions bring the statewide network to 47 Community Affiliates dedicated to preventing litter, improving recycling and waste reduction, and beautifying public spaces throughout Louisiana.
“Louisiana’s greatest strength is the people who care enough to roll up their sleeves and make a difference in their communities by turning local pride into action,” said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser. “I applaud Clean Pelican, Keep Plaquemines Parish Beautiful, and Keep Richland Beautiful for stepping up to lead the fight against litter and inspire others to take pride in their communities. I look forward to seeing the positive impact they will make for years to come.”
Clean Pelican, a newly formed Keep Louisiana Beautiful Affiliate serving Baton Rouge, is led by Affiliate Director Matt Adler.
“I believe the greatest impact comes through collaboration,” said Adler. “Becoming a Keep Louisiana Beautiful Affiliate allows Clean Pelican to bring more people, organizations, and neighborhoods together around a shared vision for a cleaner, greener, and more vibrant Baton Rouge.”
The formation of Keep Plaquemines Parish Beautiful has been led by Braden Young.
“Keep Plaquemines Parish Beautiful is proud to join the Keep Louisiana Beautiful Community Affiliate Network,” said Young. “We look forward to working alongside Keep Louisiana Beautiful and fellow Affiliates as we continue building a cleaner, more beautiful Plaquemines Parish.”
Keep Richland Beautiful was established under the leadership of Sharon Gilmore, President of the Richland Revitalization Board.
“Becoming a Keep Louisiana Beautiful Affiliate is an exciting step forward for Richland Parish,” said Gilmore. “It reflects our shared commitment to investing in the beauty, cleanliness, and pride of our communities while creating a better place for families, businesses, and future generations.”
To become Community Affiliates, each organization completed a comprehensive certification process that included establishing a steering committee and governing structure, developing a mission statement and branding, participating in KLB training, conducting a community assessment and litter survey, creating a one-year action plan, establishing a budget, and officially launching its Affiliate program.
“Our Community Affiliates are the driving force behind local environmental stewardship across Louisiana,” said Cabell Mouton, Director of Community Engagement and Affiliate Services for Keep Louisiana Beautiful. “We’re excited to welcome these three organizations into our growing network and look forward to supporting their efforts to inspire volunteerism, reduce litter, and strengthen community pride.”
During 2024-2025, Keep Louisiana Beautiful’s Community Affiliate Network achieved significant results across the state, including:
- Removing 41,946 cigarette butts
- Collecting 1,243 tons of recyclable materials
- Removing 4,793 tons of litter from Louisiana roadways and waterways
The 2025-2026 Community Affiliate Annual Report, highlighting this year’s statewide accomplishments, will be released this fall.
