Louisiana Blue and Keep Louisiana Beautiful Continue Partnership for Clean and Healthy Communities

Louisiana Blue partnered with Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) for the fifth annual Love the Boot Week, held April 18-26, 2026, to highlight the connection between a clean environment and a healthy Louisiana. As one of the first and longest-running supporters of Love the Boot Week, Louisiana Blue recognizes that litter negatively impacts community health and quality of life.

This year, Louisiana Blue supported four cleanup and beautification projects in regions where their offices are located. In addition to providing funding, Louisiana Blue encouraged employee participation, offering staff a hands-on opportunity to engage in meaningful, community-strengthening volunteer work.

In the Monroe area, Keep Ouachita Parish Beautiful led an event to both clean up and beautify an area near downtown Monroe. Louisiana Blue team members volunteered alongside other community partners to pick up litter and refurbish gardens in front of the Parish Police Jury building. They planted flowers and installed a memorial sign dedicating the garden to the late director of Keep Ouachita Parish Beautiful, Lisa Richardson, who was a fierce advocate for her community.

In the New Orleans area, Louisiana Blue supported lowernine.org, an organization working to restore and revitalize New Orleans’ Lower 9th Ward. This collaborative event brought together volunteers from Louisiana Blue, Entergy, the Green Project, NORD, New Orleans City Department of Sanitation, The New Orleans Saints, and community members from across the Lower 9th Ward. Forty-five volunteers worked together clearing illegally dumped trash and debris from the streets, cleaning and beautifying Oliver Bush Park, and clearing overgrown corner lots. They removed an estimated 6,000 pounds of waste tires, and many of these were repurposed and painted to create colorful flower planters around the playground at Oliver Bush Park.

In Shreveport, the Love the Earth Day Celebration at Shreveport Green’s Urban Farm expanded its reach and impact by bringing together environmental organizations, educators, local farmers, artists, and community partners for a day of hands-on learning and environmental action. Through interactive activities, educational demonstrations, garden-to-table cooking experiences, and youth engagement opportunities, the event promoted sustainability and strengthened connections to local food systems and environmental stewardship. A highlight was the unveiling of a community-painted mural on a 5,000-gallon cistern, creating a lasting symbol of Louisiana’s ecosystems and community pride. Support from Louisiana Blue, including volunteer participation and funding, helped make the mural and the event possible.

Louisiana Blue also played a key role in KLB’s kickoff event held in downtown Baton Rouge. The celebration included networking, a partner expo, speakers, and a litter cleanup. Louisiana Blue employees were returning volunteers for both the reception and the cleanup. Each year, a large group of Team Blue volunteers can be counted on to roll up their sleeves and make an impact in their community.

Through their ongoing sponsorship and employee involvement, Louisiana Blue continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to community wellness and environmental stewardship. Their support helps amplify local efforts and reinforces the message that a clean Louisiana is a healthy Louisiana.
