The workshop will offer valuable insights into youth environmental stewardship and community engagement. \nMay 4\, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. \nLSU George Peabody Hall College of Human Science and Education \n4427 Dalrymple Dr.\, Room 225\, Baton Rouge \nSpace is limited to 50 participants. Registration is available online. The workshop is open to all classroom teachers regardless of where you live or work. \n  \nKLB is pleased to offer stipends of up to $150 for teachers participating. Teachers who attend and stay for the duration of the workshop will receive a $50 stipend. Teachers have the opportunity to earn an additional $100 to implement the lessons. \nThe desired result of this program is an increase in knowledge and awareness that yields a positive change in perceptions\, attitudes\, and behaviors related to caring for the environment and community. The workshop and lessons will cover a range of topics including: \n\nimpact of litter on wildlife\nreducing waste in your personal life\nplastic pollution\nmicroplastics\nmapping litter at school\nrecycling\, reusing\, and reducing\nwatersheds\n\n  \nAt the end of each lesson\, students will be encouraged to apply what they learned from each lesson by participating in student-driven activities. SUMMARY:Keep St. James Beautiful: Louisiana Arbor Day Event
DESCRIPTION:KSJB\, in partnership with St. James High School and the community will plant 28 oak trees and eight magnolia trees at the high school to honor graduating classes of the past and to build a link between the old and new campuses of the high school. KOCH has supplied a grant and some past graduating classes have adopted a tree to plant and care for on the SJH campus. The event will be held on Arbor Day\, January 20 at the St. James High School Campus on LA Highway 20 in Vacherie. St. James High 4-H clubs\, Student Council\, Wild Cat productions\, and the SJH student body will all be involved in the planting as well as representatives of graduating classes who adopted a tree.

DESCRIPTION:KLB is pleased to announce two new grant programs for trash receptacles and community beautification projects totaling $550\,000. The applications for both grants are available online now and the deadline to apply is Dec. 16\, 2022. The trash receptacle grant program\, allocating over $460\,000 for receptacles\, is intended to reduce litter in public spaces. The community beautification grant program will provide reimbursement grants for beautification projects ranging from $1\,000 to $5\,000 and totaling up to $90\,000.
